Anyone who wants to learn to work with wood, using simple tools, to make a spoon, spatula and butter knife.
"The most relaxing and satisfying course I've been on" Participant 2022
There's the added bonus of experiencing the healing, focused, mindful flow state of carving, as you listen to the song of the grain in the wood in your hands.
The plan is to gather at Trill on the Hill, "A wild place for nature and people" in East Devon, for lunch around midday and start the course at 1.00pm
There will be almost 6 fun and intensive hours of the course (with breaks for tea, coffee and homemade cake of course).
Content
We will learn to select suitable wood for carving and using in the kitchen, how keep your tools sharp too.
We will consider options for finishing the wood too, such as sanding and oiling.
We aim to Finish at 6.30/7pm with some simple soup!
Aims
It is my intention that you leave with a new spoon made by your good self, that you could eat soup with, and also the many wood craft skills needed to get to that point.
I also hope you will have had some excellent conversations and feel the mindful wonder and flow state that carving brings to a busy mind.
